Sherlock Holmes Cast

According to former New York Post film critic Michael Medved the very concept of a gay Sherlock Holmes will alienate most audience members. Will someone please shut this 61 year old, repressed conservative up, please!

In an interview with Page Six Medved claimed that audiences had no “hunger” to see stars Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law “impersonating homosexuals”.  Well, Melved, I’m here to tell you that the times have changed- ever hear of a little movie called Brokeback Mountain? Melved went on to further denounce the film, saying ” making Holmes and Watson homosexual will take away two thirds of their box office.”

I’m going to go out on a limb here and predict that Sherlock Holmes will be a box office hit. Melved, if you’re reading this (and I know you will because I’m sending you an email to that effect) and I loose the bet, I’ll champion your repressive causes in the future. If you loose you’ll have to go the Abbey in bottomless chaps.

In any case, Holmes and Watson aren’t actually gay they just happen to share what Downey describes as a relationship characterized by complexity and heightened intimacy.
