Mika

I think I’m falling for Mika- or at the very least his psychedelic sound. He’s almost perfect in every way other from his decision to hang out with certain mythical creatures and their consorts. Even that however, can’t change the way I feel about his music. His latest endeavor THE BOY WHO KNEW TOO MUCH is spectacular, it has been billed as “claiming the space between Freddie Mercury, Elton John, David Bowie and ABBA”. This album catalogs Mika’s progression into a bonafide rock god, the music is more dramatic and bold. It has been described as an “idea of what living in the 21st century means in all its contradictory, complicated glory. Title track “We Are Golden” which features Imogen Heap is simply sublime (what a fucking good collaboration!) opens with a choir backed chorus that would rouse the saints and heaven and the denizens in hell. “Blame It On the Girls” marries skittering percussion with floor-stomping piano and a swoon-worthy chorus, while “Rain” - featuring droplets of violin plucks from Owen Pallett and additional programming by Stuart Price - is a bonafide dance floor anthem. Don’t take my word for it, order it now! The Boy Who Knew Too Much is available 09/22/09.
