I find it very entertaining that the mischievous Michael Gambon was asked to play Dumbledore in Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince. It became even more amusing when Rowling revealed that Dumbledore was gay. A few years ago, when asked if he had problems playing a gay character, Gambon in good humor said-
” he used to be a homosexual but was forced to quit because it made his eyes water.”
Gambon believes that Rowling did it for shock factor, something that he himself is very familiar with. Either way, Dumbledore’s sexuality does little to change his sublime performance. It would be rather bizarre albeit entertaining if Dumbledore did give off a distinct gay vibe. It’s understandable though, after all the thought of a centuries old, avuncular, robed figure in charge of a boarding school is a tad disturbing. Gives a whole new meaning to flicking your wand, doesn’t it?
Forgive my rampant and depraved imagination but I think that Dumbledore and Gellert Grindelwald must (should/could) have been lovers who eventually drifted apart. Now, that’s a story that deserves telling! What do you think?

I just saw movie 6 and was terribly disapointed. It left so much of the book out that if you did not read the book you have no idea what was going on. I don’t see how book 7 will make any sense. If they can add stuff that was not in the book then why not put in the information needed that was in the book. Creative license is great, but only if it makes sense. Unfortunatley the movie could have been so much better had they kept to the book a little more.
I know what you mean Denice, there was quite a bit deleted and that was my only complaint too. It makes me want to read The Half-Blood Prince again, I assume that they imagine that their audience consists of primarily devoted fans who can figure out the story and as such need little background information. However, there is so much information to remember/digest.
