Cocaine

Cocaine

Using bills is so de classe, especially one dollar bills but apparently Washingtonian’s don’t think so! According to the BBC, a study conducted by the University of Massachusetts in Dartmouth, a stunning 95% of dollar bills in Washington DC bear traces of cocaine! Apparently this figure increased by 20% since the last survey was conducted. After testing the notes from over 30 cities, researchers discovered that Baltimore, Boston and Detroit had significantly higher than average levels of cocaine covered notes.

China and Salt Lake City had the lowest level of contaminated banknotes with China only having 12% of their notes contaminated.

Researchers are attributing the increase in drug use to the recession. I’m not entirely sure how that makes sense- after all cocaine isn’t exactly cheap, so why would people waste money on it when there are cheaper alternatives such as pot and alcohol? I have a theory- Washington is full of coke heads. I can’t decide whether to be dismayed, laugh or try and get investors to open up  a rehab center in our nation’s capital.
