Maybe it’s just me but I always considered Patrick Swayze as a great actor. Furthermore, unlike the new wave of celebrities, he was as genuine as they come. Swayze took took his fame with a grain of salt, something that was uncharacteristic of a star of his fame. Once considered as The Sexiest Man Alive, I’m proud to remember the artist for his humanity, enduring spirit and his devotion to his craft, family, friends and fans. In memory of his life, we are proud to present some of the moments that ensure that his memory will live forever. To his wife of over 33years, we offer our condolences.
Dirty Dancing
Who can ever forget the leotard clad Swayze slinking on the dance floor in what is considered as the “the most goosebump-inducing dance scene in movie history”! Swayze certainly debunked the myth that white men can’t dance.
Point Break
Possibly one of your favorite movies of all time, who doesn’t love the cult classic featuring Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze. Yes, I’m well aware of the fact there were other actors involved but Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze. I’m certain I’ve got my point across. Throw in a plot with bank robbers, sky diving and the captivating waves of Bells Beach , Australia and you’ve got the quintessential, timeless summer classic.
Ghost
Heaven knows that I loved this film so much that even though it scared the living daylight out of me as a child, I couldn’t help but going back for more. Ghost was an integral fixture of my childhood, truth be told it still cracks me up- who can ever forget the antics of Swayze and Whoopi Goldberg?
Saturday Night Life
Possibly one of the funniest and visually jarring skits of all time, its saddening to realize that two unabashed artists are with us no longer. Who can ever forget this!?
To Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything, Julie Newmar!
Patrick Swayze, Wesley Snipes and John Leguizamo compromised what I consider gay, camp royalty! If you never saw this, nows the time to get yourself reacquainted with a cult classic. Fabulous!
Donnie Darko
Donnie Darko vs. Jim Cunningham
I’ve always been a fan of the dark comedies and Donnie Darko was certainly no exception! One of my favorite scenes from the cult classic. Filming for the sequel begins filming shortly, hopefully there will be some reference to Jim Cunningham/Patrick’s character.
